Welcome to the new and improved Crusty Cassette. It is far more than a weblog as you will discover. Yes, it looks entirely different, but I think you will shortly find it is simple to navigate.
Get started by clicking on the Weblog link in the navigation bar to take you to the newe Crusty Cassette WebLog. Or, you can select New Message to take you to the discussion group (DG). When you create a message in the DG you can check a box that will post it to the weblog. Of course this only works if you ask me first to become an administrator. Or you could just attach the picture and I could put in the code to make it appear. No problem.
The Old Crusty Cassette at blogger
Why Change? The Blogger tool we were using was simple, even elegant but it had limitations.
- Unstable: Perhaps after they get done migrating everyone to the new software, they'll have time to work on stability. For now, thoough, I'm seeing FTP failures almost with every edit I make. I've noticed some of you have posted and the page just wasn't there. That was an FTP error.
- Archives disappeared. Yep, some of them are completely gone. The links to them appear and reappear and those links seldom worked right.
- Making attractive entries was difficult. This version doesn't fix that. You actually have to know more html to get bold face and insert links on this one. However, That is a small trade off. Those who want to learn to add those elements may quickly do so. Most are satisfied with just getting a post up.
- Pictures: Well, if you know where it is on the web, you can create a link as I have done with the club logo above. However, you can upload pictures when you make a new entry in the discussion group (DG). You won't want to put up an entire gallery, but a couple of pics will be interesting. I have added links to some pictures you might like to use. You can see them and how to post them at the pictures Pictures page.
I'll post more info on this home page soon.
For example: Don't miss the Tips link for instructions on making your text pretty and adding links, enclosing pictures, and chaning your user preferences.
